Our Story BEFORE The Story ~ Kylie Stone (not really my name) & Luke Dryden ~ Justice Undercover by Connie Queen

Hello, my name is not really Kylie Stone. But don’t tell anyone. If I want to stay alive, I must remain dead. Three years ago, I was US Marshal Melody Garner and lost a young mom and two children under my protection to Hal Alcott, a popular businessman accused of laundering drug money and racketeering—a killer who will stop at nothing to protect the empire he built by illegal means. Injured and fearing Hal will come after me, I fake my own death and change my identity. My life is even more complicated by my mother’s cancer diagnosis, and I desperately want to get back to my loving family and let them know I’m alive. But first, Hal Alcott must be brought to justice. Even though my greatest fear is losing another family, I take a nanny job for a Texas Ranger so I can investigate his sister’s death—a death I believe may be connected to Hal.

Hello, my name is Luke Dryden. I’m a 34-year-old Texas Ranger and recently learned my dad—the man I idolized and loved—adopted me. I can’t believe I’ve been lied to my whole life and now I’m leery to trust others. My sister died and left me to care for her two-year-old twins. Not believing her death was an accident, I hire a nanny and delve into my sister’s past to see if I can find answers.

  1. How did you come up with your star characters? After all my years living on this earth, I have never heard of a female U S Marshall. Thank you for writing this book.

  2. Hello!Honestly, I already had the idea of an adult finding out his dad wasn't who he thought he was. I know a couple of people who kept this secret from their kids for a long time. The \”dad\” had been in their life since almost birth and there wasn't a good age to sit their kids down and tell them the truth. 5 years old? 10? Or maybe tell them when they're a teenager? And waiting until the child is adult can certainly be shocking.Luke learning he'd be deceived his whole would be upsetting. For my heroine, one of the editors had mentioned wanting to see more secret identity stories. And I thought, what a perfect character for my hero!I love secret identity stories so Justice Undercover was fun to write.

  3. Connie, I too love secret identity stories…and your debut is a good one! Very believable! And it’s fun to read your post from the POVs of the characters. Congratulations, my friend!

  4. Connie! Great post. Kylie investigating his sister’s death—a death I believe may be connected to Hal.-and a nanny to twins! Love the cover of this book. Makes me want to burrow under a blanket (since something happened to my sun and warm temperatures lol) and read from first word to last! sallyshupe1 at gmail dot com

  5. Connie, I love the uniqueness behind your characters, especially a female US Marshal! And Justice Undercover was fabulous! A definite page turner! Congratulations on your debut!

  6. What an interesting character interview, Connie. You hooked me when the words Texas Ranger were mentioned. Congratulations on your novel!

  7. Kylie's and Luke's story will be a great one to read. An intriguing introduction to these two characters plus having two year old twins will add fun times but tense moments also, I'm sure. I love stories with twins–twins infants or twins adults are great in books. Thank you for the giveaway opportunity.

  8. Connie;THANK YOU FOR BRINGING YOUR CHARACTERS TO JOURNEYSTOJOY.NET!!!Connie – I ordered your book from Amazon, and it arrived this afternoon – I CAN HARDLY WAIT TO GET UNDER THE COVERS AND READ IT!My only opportunity to read now is about a half hour every evening after climbing between my sheets.THIS IS MY REWARD FOR GOOD BEHAIVOR – getting my own edits/revisions done by deadline. LOLBe sure to let me know when your next characters are into your next book!Would love to have you join me here again!Hugs
